Common questions
How do paid sessions on AskDoc work?
You send a request describing what is going on. We reply by email with an invoice for the service you picked. Once it is paid you choose a time, the doctor reads your reports before you meet, and you get a written summary afterward. If we cannot help with your situation, the invoice is simply canceled.
Can an online doctor session replace seeing my own doctor?
No, and it is not meant to. These sessions are education and preparation: what your results mean, what the options usually are, and what to ask at your next appointment. Diagnosis, prescriptions and examinations stay with a doctor who can see you in person.
Which service should I pick if I am not sure?
Pick "Not sure yet" on the request form and describe what is going on. We read every request and suggest the smallest service that actually answers your question, which is sometimes just a free guide from the library.
How much does it cost to talk to a doctor on AskDoc?
A single written answer from a doctor is $29, a written Results Review is $49, a 20 minute Clarity Session is $79, a Skin Photo Review is $39, a Personal Diet & Fitness Plan is $99, a Second Opinion Preparation is $249, and the full written Health Review is $499. Circle members pay 25% less on every session.
Is my information private?
Yes. Your request and reports are seen only by the reviewing doctor and our small team, stored securely, and never sold or used for advertising. You can ask for everything to be deleted at any time.
Can I claim a session on my health insurance?
Many insurance plans reimburse educational health consultations under wellness or outpatient benefits. Every paid session comes with a written summary and an itemized receipt, and on request a letter describing the service, which you can submit to your insurer. Reimbursement depends on your policy, so check with them first.
Can I help a family member or friend use AskDoc?
Yes, and we built for it. Signed-in members have a personal care link on their health record page: anyone who arrives through it gets 50% off their first session, and when they book, the sharer gets a written answer from a doctor completely free as a thank you. Everything is applied on the invoice, so there are no codes to type. You can also fill in the request form on someone’s behalf if they are not comfortable online.
