Does this need a doctor today?
Most things do not. A few cannot wait an hour. Here is where the lines sit.
Chest pain, trouble breathing, weakness on one side, trouble speaking, heavy bleeding, serious injury, or thoughts of harming yourself: contact your local emergency service now.
Now, emergency services
Chest pain or pressure, trouble breathing at rest, weakness or drooping on one side, sudden trouble speaking or seeing, heavy bleeding, a first seizure, a serious injury, thoughts of harming yourself.
Do not use any website, including this one. Call your local emergency number.
Today
A fever that is not settling with new confusion or a rash, severe pain, a wound that looks infected, sudden severe headache unlike your usual, vomiting that will not stop, a diabetic with high sugars and vomiting, or a baby under three months with a fever.
Same-day appointment, urgent care, or a call with a doctor today.
This week
A lump you have just found, a cough lasting more than three weeks, unexplained weight loss, a mole that has changed, blood where there should not be any, a lab result you were handed with no explanation.
A booked appointment. Bring the reports and a written list of questions.
It can wait
A cold in its first days, a mild ache that is improving, a rash that is not spreading and does not hurt, tiredness after a bad week of sleep.
Watch it. If it is not better in the expected time, move it up a row.
These are the usual lines, not your case. Anything that frightens you is worth having looked at sooner than a list says, and nobody has ever been thought foolish for that.
Priority Care
A general physician on video, usually within the hour, $299. They read whatever you send before the call, and you get the summary in writing the same day. Health education: what your situation is likely to be, how urgent it is, and what to ask for next. No diagnosis and no prescription.

Free either way: the library explains most of what turns up in the third row, and the tools will check a reading against real guidelines before you decide anything.
