Common questions
How many calories should I eat a day?
Most adults keep their weight steady on 1,800 to 2,800 calories a day, and the number depends on age, sex, height, weight and how much you move. The calorie calculator works yours out in thirty seconds, and that number becomes the target here. To lose weight slowly, eat about 400 below it. Under 1,200 a day is not advised without a doctor.
How accurate is a calorie tracker?
A calorie tracker is accurate enough to show a pattern and not accurate enough to settle an argument over 50 calories. Serving sizes vary, the same dish differs by cook, and most people under-record by a fifth. Logging most days for two weeks gives a real average. Logging one perfect day gives nothing.
Do I have to log every single thing?
No. Log the meals and the drinks with calories in them, most days. A tracker that takes a minute a meal gets abandoned. This one takes a tap, and "same as yesterday" covers the days that repeat.
How many calories are in a roti?
One medium roti or chapati of about 40 grams has around 120 calories and 3 grams of protein. A naan is about 260, a plain paratha about 280, and an aloo paratha about 330. A cup of cooked dal adds about 200 calories and 12 grams of protein.
How many calories are in a cup of chai?
A cup of chai made with milk and a teaspoon of sugar is about 90 calories. Three cups a day is around 270 calories, which is more than many people guess. Black tea or coffee without sugar is close to zero.
Where is my food log stored?
On this device, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Print it or download the CSV to take it to an appointment, or save a weekly summary to your AskDoc profile if you have one.
Should I weigh myself every day?
Once a day at the same time, after the bathroom and before breakfast, gives the cleanest trend. The number moves 1 to 2 kg day to day with water and salt, so look at the two-week direction, not any single morning.
